Hazel Red, a grandmother, is trying to experience love and romance of her own in her seasoned age with charming Deacon Roscoe who attends her church. The two have been in a relationship for five long years, and Hazel is getting impatient with Roscoe because she feels a mention of a “ring” should have been brought up by now. All while Hazel has this issue on her shoulder, she still finds the strength to care for her grandchild Mia who is being neglected by her mother Sharmaine. Sharmaine, the youngest of Hazel’s two daughters, is living a life that is surely headed for destruction. Hazel sees that her daughter Sharmaine desperately needs hope, and soon realizes that hope needs to be ignited within the entire family. Karen, Hazel’s oldest daughter, is married, has a perfect career, and did everything right, but still has some issues that arises within her as well. Karen eventually sees that she needs more than what she merely possesses. In the meantime, while everyone has given up on Sharmaine, Vernon, the young man who lives next door still crushes for her as he did when they were kids. He still hopes Sharmaine leaves her bad-influenced, drug-dealing boyfriend and gets her life together. Soon forgiveness and hope is demonstrated and fulfilled through the actions of this story.
